How Does Filler Correction Work?

Filler correction is a non-surgical injection treatment that uses Hyaluronidase – an enzyme that safely breaks down hyaluronic acid (HA)-based fillers. Once injected, the filler begins to break down and is naturally processed by your body. You’ll see visible softening within 24–72 hours, with final results around 7–10 days.

What Kind of Fillers Can Be Fixed?

We can correct any hyaluronic acid (HA) filler, including:

  • Lip filler correction
  • Cheek, chin, and jawline filler
  • Under-eye (tear trough) filler
  • Nasolabial fold filler

⚠️ Important: Radiesse fillers and Sculptra fillers are non-HA-based and cannot be corrected with Hyaluronidase. If you don’t know what filler you received, we’ll help you.

Lip Filler Correction

Correcting lip filler is one of the most requested services we offer. Some people are correcting lip filler migration (the dreaded “filler shelf”) or just want to return to the natural lip shape.

We correct all HA-based lip fillers in the GTA to restore balance and facial harmony. We’ll fix the filler first, then discuss if or when you’d like to reshape.

filler correction FAQ

Absolutely. In fact, many clients choose to re-fill an area after dissolving, either to correct overfilling, fix asymmetry, or achieve a more natural look.
We recommend waiting at least 2 weeks after dissolving before getting any new filler. This gives your body time to fully process the treatment, ensures swelling has subsided, and allows us to see your natural facial anatomy more clearly. At that point, we can safely and precisely re-treat the area, if desired.

In most cases, only one session is needed to achieve the desired result, especially if you’re dissolving a small area like the lips or tear troughs. However, if you’ve had multiple layers of filler, or if the filler is older or placed very deep, a second session may be recommended.
During your consultation, we’ll give you a clear plan and honest expectations. We never over-treat, our goal is to get the right outcome with the least intervention possible.

Most clients find the treatment to be tolerable and quick. A topical numbing agent is usually applied beforehand to minimize any discomfort. The injection itself can feel like a small pinch or sting, and the enzyme works fairly quickly, which may cause a bit of pressure or warmth in the area.
Some clients experience mild swelling or tenderness right after, which usually resolves in a few days. We’ll walk you through aftercare steps to help with comfort and healing. The dissolving process is often less intense than the original injection.

Great question – it seems counterintuitive, but it all comes down to the form and function of hyaluronic acid (HA). When we add HA during filler treatments, it’s in a thick, gel-like form that’s designed to hold shape and volume.

When we correct it, we use an enzyme called Hyaluronidase, which breaks down that gel structure so your body can reabsorb it naturally. It doesn’t “remove” your skin’s own HA, just the injected filler. It’s a precise, targeted treatment that won’t affect your overall skin health.

No, you absolutely don’t. We regularly treat clients who received their filler elsewhere and are now looking for correction, refinement, or a full reset. Whether you’re dealing with migration, puffiness, asymmetry, or just want to start fresh, our team will carefully assess your concerns and customize a safe dissolving plan regardless of where the original filler was injected. Just bring any details you have about the product used (if available), and we’ll take care of the rest.
