Sculptra® FAQ

Sculptra is a cosmetic injectable treatment designed to restore volume and improve skin texture by stimulating natural collagen production. It provides gradual, natural-looking results that can last up to two years. Administered by licensed professionals, Sculptra helps reduce the appearance of wrinkles and enhances facial contours. Suitable for those seeking a minimally invasive option for long-term rejuvenation.

Avoid the use of Aspirin, NSAIDS, Ginko Biloba, Garlic Supplements, Green Tea, Flax Oil, Cod Liver Oil, Vitamins A and E, and essential fatty acids for up to 1 week pre and post injection as they will increase your risk of bruising.

Do not lay down flat for several hours after your treatment, and sleep on your back with your head elevated for 3-5 days after treatment, to help lessen swelling. Avoid applying makeup, but if you need to apply product we recommend waiting until after the first 24hrs, and using new or well-cleaned brushes and make-up.

Yes, Sculptra® is FDA-approved and considered safe when administered by a trained and experienced professional. The product has been used in aesthetic treatments for over 15 years with a proven safety record.

Sculptra® injections are generally well-tolerated. A topical numbing cream or ice may be applied before the treatment to minimize discomfort. Some patients report feeling a mild sting or pressure during the injections, but pain is usually minimal.

Yes, Sculptra® can improve the appearance of acne scars by stimulating collagen production, which helps to fill in depressed areas and improve skin texture. Several treatments may be needed for optimal results in treating acne scars.

Sculptra® provides long-lasting results, but it is not permanent. Collagen production gradually decreases over time, and maintenance treatments may be needed to sustain the results. Most patients return for touch-up sessions every 1–2 years to maintain their youthful appearance.

You may see immediate results for 24 hours after being injected with Sculptra®; however, these results are temporary. Sculptra itself is a collagen stimulator, the product itself does not provide a filling action. Results take 3-4 weeks.

Generally, Sculptra® is performed in three separate injections that are roughly three to four weeks apart. This is because we are unable to see the improvement from Sculptra® until after the collagen has had time to surround the small beads of active polylactic acid.

Sculptra® contains poly-L-lactic acid, which gradually stimulates the body’s collagen production. Over time, this helps restore facial volume and smooth out wrinkles. Unlike other fillers that provide immediate results, Sculptra® works by encouraging the body to regenerate collagen, resulting in subtle and long-lasting improvements.

Sculptra® can be used to treat several areas of the face, including:

  • Cheeks
  • Jawline
  • Temples
  • Nasolabial folds (smile lines)
  • Marionette lines (lines around the mouth)
  • Chin area
It can also help improve the overall skin texture and elasticity.

Unlike traditional dermal fillers, which provide immediate volume, Sculptra® works gradually by stimulating collagen production over time. This leads to more natural and longer-lasting results. Sculptra® also addresses volume loss in deeper layers of the skin, making it ideal for restoring a youthful appearance.

Sculptra® is not typically used for under-eye bags or dark circles, but it can be effective in treating hollowed cheeks and tear trough areas (the area beneath the eyes). If you have concerns about the under-eye area, your provider may recommend alternative treatments like dermal fillers specifically designed for this delicate region.
